Gen 20:10-12 “Then Abimelech said to Abraham, “What did you have in view, that you have done this thing?” 11 And Abraham said, “Because I thought, surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will kill me on account of my wife. 12 But indeed she is truly my sister. She is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife. “

Abraham technically did not lie to Abimelech. He used this truth to mask Sarah’s identity in order to escape from the threat of men towards his life. Abraham was ‘Street Smart’ and escaped from danger. It must have worked somewhere else, but with Abimelech, it was backfired. Instead of his life, he was about to lose his wife. A man of God and a father of Faith, he used his wisdom on this matter instead of faith in God. What can we learn from this?
Daniel who is the one of the wise men could have used the street smartness or wisdom of men to escape the Lion’s den; but he did not use his smartness, but rather relied on the Power of God to rescue him from the lion’s den. What is the outcome? The outcome is the glorious manifestation of God’s power. I Cor 2: 5 – “…that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.” This is what we can learn and try to implement. This will defy the natural smartness one has acquired through his/her life term. Paul says these are all rubbish and waste. If we put faith on our smartness through the wisdom of men, then we will not see any power of God manifested in our midst. However, if we put the faith on the power of God, He can manifest in a way beyond a man can think or conceive. The power of God will take care of the situation if we execute our faith in that situation when the time calls for it.

God Bless You
