And Abraham said, “Because I thought, surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will kill me on account of my wife. 12 But indeed she is truly my sister. She is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.
Sarah is Abraham’s wife and also his sister. Both are correct in terms of life, but if we compare both, then one truth is valued high than the other. Let us meditate on two things today,’ friend of God’ and ‘bride of the Bridegroom’. Both statuses are valid according to the word of God. If we look at these terms in the worldly point of view, who has more close relationship with a man? Wife or friend? Obviously it is the wife. She has more authority, more intimacy and more inheritance than someone who is a friend. Some today is lingering at the ‘Friend of God’ stage. They never want to grow or ignorant to move into the relationship of a ‘Bride’. This happens, to many who are born in a Christian family. They were brought up in the teachings and faith of the Lord, but many have Him as Friend rather than as a ‘Bridegroom’. Men who lived before Christ’s death, His resurrection and the baptism of the Holy Spirit period, can not achieve this glorious relationship of ‘Bride’ while they were living. This relationship is opened to us first for the Jews and next for the gentiles. He redeemed us through His blood and sealed us as a ‘Bride’ through the Holy Spirit. When we are eligible to inherit the greater truth, we have to move in to that relationship and claim the inheritance in the Bridegroom. This is what Paul explains to Corinthians in chapter 3. He explains the latter glory in Christ and its liberty. When we are born again in Him, in the new covenant, we are attached to our ‘Bridegroom’ as a bride. Let us move into this truth. Do not switch between the truths, to gain men’s attention or to avoid men’s criticism. Boldly live in the latter truth, which is more glorious. Amen.
II Cor 3:18 “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
