Ps 42:1-2 “As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God. 2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?”
Five out of ten virgins prepared themselves properly to meet the Groom. Other five did not prepare well, so they were left out when the Bridegroom came. After all the works and toils of these women, they still miss the coming of the Bridegroom because of the lack of preparation. Preparation to meet our Lord is necessary in our daily fellowship. Are we prepared? Preparing daily for His coming is a crucial thing. Oil in the ten virgin parables indicates the preparation. The oil that is with the wise virgins is prepared with a thirst.
• A thirst of being ready for the coming King
• Thirst of being ready to give light.
• A thirst that their oil never gets dry
This thirst can come with more sacrifice of worldly entertainments, and spending time with the Lord at His feet. The more we thirst, the more oil in our reserve and it will overflow. When we have abundance in the oil, we will never run out of oil when the King comes. Let us thirst for the abundance of the infilling of the Holy Spirit, which will enable us to prepare for the coming Bridegroom.
