Mark 9 > 49, 50 “For everyone will be seasoned with fire, and every sacrifice will be seasoned with salt. Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another.”

Salt not only represents a separated life, but to act as a preservative. The soul behind the prayer should be definitely born again in our Lord Jesus Christ and live a separated (from the worldly lust) life. After this separation, the soul should act as a preservative in others life. The preservation will hold the flavor or the aroma of the incense. When our soul is formed as a preservative, our prayers will also have that flavor which preserves others from being spoiled by the world. The world is a place where contamination occurs. In order to be a prayer warrior in the presence of the Lord, our soul should be free of contamination first and then our prayer will have the aroma of good incense. For example, when you pray for your child that he / she should not be contaminated by the worldly lust, then that prayer of incense contains a preservative in to it. When God answer that prayer, He sees the preserved nature of your soul, the preservative contained in your prayer, and He might guard that child from contamination. The Lord’s prayer has a line saying ‘lead us not into temptation’ this indicates the nature of salt in that prayer. Having said these, we may now have a different perspective to the call of Christ ‘You are the salt of the earth’.
