Romans 12:2 “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Israelites after they were delivered from the bondage of Egypt and crossed the salvation of the red sea, they did not forgot the way they lived in Egypt. Their mind is always looking for that kind of environment and entertainment even though they were miles away from Egypt. With each miracle that God did to them in their midst, their spiritual mind is renewed but after some days, when the next calamity or disappointment comes, then they wore the Egyptian mind masking the spiritual mind. God by His faithfulness gave them manna everyday to understand their state of mind in which they are operating, but still the mind of Egyptian came on top. They lived a life of death in the land of the living.
Likewise, many are today trying to wear a mask of compromise with the world after they had been freed from the bondage and went through the water of salvation. They will wear that mask of the world (carnal mind) when they are with world. They do not want to be separated as light from the dark. They do not want to be singled out for Lord Jesus Christ. Either they like the world very much or they just want to get through their current phase of life without any issues. Apostle Paul through the Holy Spirit says do not do what is right, perfect and acceptable in the sight of the world. Do not wear a mask to satisfy the world. Instead, stay on with the mind of the new creation that you have received from the Lord on the day of your salvation (Eph 4:20-24, Col 3:10). This spiritual man is renewed day by day in the hope to see the eternal things (II Cor 4:16-18). Joshua and Caleb yielded to this kind of renewal every day by trusting in the Lord to see the land of Canaan one day. They hoped for the things that are unseen and that hope energized their spiritual vitality for what is good, acceptable and perfect will of God. That is a lesson for us, to renew the spiritual vitality, by the hope of the eternal things that is in store through our Lord. When we set our mind on that higher ground, then the affliction or the pain that associated without having the mask of the world will not bother much in our everyday life. We should strive to live according to the mind of the New Creation; when we do, we will not go out of the will of God.
