Romans 6:12-14 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
To seek His divine guidance on an issue or generally regarding our life whether it pertains to this world or eternal kingdom, first we have to present ourselves before God. The place before God is where things happen and things conceived to give birth in our life. The counsel of God is generated as a spring of water from His presence. How do we present ourselves before God?
Present our members of our body as instruments of righteousness to God. All who received the newness of life in Christ Jesus should have our members of our body submitted in Christ as an instrument to do the righteousness of God. There should not be any carnality in the members of the body. Sin shall not have dominion over us for those who are in Christ Jesus.
If you are living in a sinful life, obeying to the lust of the body and are not willing to repent and submit your members of the body as instruments to do the righteousness of God, there is no place for you to stand before God. Darkness and light cannot co mingle. Grace is available through the blood of Jesus Christ for you to be cleansed, but if you reject it, then you cannot receive any guidance from the Lord. This is a fundamental requirement. Those who live a hypocrite life and cheating God by their demeanor and sweet words will always be like blind men walking in the daylight searching for guidance. They will always be confused with the guidance, because they do not acknowledge that they need the salve from God to cleanse and open their eyes (Rev 3:18). King David sat before God to seek His guidance (II Sam 7:18), likewise let us present ourselves before God in the newness of Life that we received through His Son Jesus Christ as an instrument to do righteousness of God.
