Number Chapter 16
8 Then Moses said to Korah, “Hear now, you sons of Levi: 9 Is it a small thing to you that the God of Israel has separated you from the congregation of Israel, to bring you near to Himself, to do the work of the tabernacle of the Lord, and to stand before the congregation to serve them; 10 and that He has brought you near to Himself, you and all your brethren, the sons of Levi, with you? And are you seeking the priesthood also? 11 Therefore you and all your company are gathered together against the Lord.
Let us look at an example from the scripture to see how God selects and operate under His will. We can also learn how to respect and operate under His selection, which is under His will.
The budding of Aaron’s rod is a good example to meditate this truth. Korah and his group were complaining against Moses and Aaron because they do not like the leadership of Moses or the appointment of Aaron as a High Priest. Korah and his group were punished by death for their rebellion against God’s selection. The people were also infected by a plague later stopped by Aaron because they were complaining about His selection. God wanted His people to stop complaining about His selection that is when He ordered each tribe to bring one rod and to be kept in the tabernacle before the Testimony. God declared that the owner of the rod, which blossoms, would be the one to represent His will. By this God removed the complaints against His selection. Why did the Israelites did not accept God’s selection even though they were under the will of God?
- The general assembly went with the flow and did not know their place under the will of God
- The assembly is stirred to rebellion by the wicked people among them
Levites who are appointed by God to support the priests, know their ministry and they knew the selection of God and operated under His will joyfully with submission and dedication. Priests performed the sacrifice and dealt with all the holy things in the tabernacle to minister the people. They knew their selection and they operated under the will of God. That is why we have to know our ministry that is appointed by the Holy Spirit in the Church of Lord our God to understand God’s selection, which is under His will. Once we know our role or ministry in the Lord’s church then we can respect and operate under that selection effectively for the kingdom of God.
