Ex 13:17-18

17 Then it came to pass, when Pharaoh had let the people go, that God did not lead them by way of the land of the Philistines, although that was near; for God said, “Lest perhaps the people change their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.” 18 So God led the people around by way of the wilderness of the Red Sea.

Num 14:41-43

41 And Moses said, “Now why do you transgress the command of the Lord? For this will not succeed. 42 Do not go up, lest you be defeated by your enemies, for the Lord is not among you. 43 For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and you shall fall by the sword; because you have turned away from the Lord, the Lord will not be with you.”

A father gave some money to his son when he completed some chores around the house. After sometime the boy wanted to buy something with that money, he received from the father. They both went to the shopping mall. After browsing through the shop the boy decided to buy one thing, the father definitely said NO to it because the stuff that he intended to buy is dangerous for him. Then he selected another, the father said you can buy it but you may have some problems because of this thing that you are about to buy. The boy ignored the soft warning that the father gave assuming if he does not like it, he would stop him from buying it like before. The truth is, the father did not stop him, but allowed him to buy it, so that he can learn to listen and obey to his father’s voice in a hard way.

Likewise, when we are about to select something in our life and say ‘if it is God’s will let it happen’ or’ if it is not God’s will then door will be closed for me’, then God will allow us to go through that selection. He may not close that door that you are about to enter.  What is the message here?

  • God the Father will definitely close the door, if it threatens your soul and leads your soul to destruction (Ex 13:17-18).
  • God the Father will warn softly if the task that you are about to do will not kill your soul to destruction but it will bring some pain in your life because of that selection. This he allows so that you will learn to listen to His voice before any decision taken (Num 14:41-43).
