Isa 50:4, 5 “…He awakens Me morning by morning, He awakens My ear To hear as the learned. The Lord God has opened My ear; And I was not rebellious, Nor did I turn away.”

When God speaks to us, He opens our spiritual ear to hear. Without that, we could not understand His communication. Many have the habit of listening to songs when they do some work. When they are focused on the particular work, most of the time they will hear the music but not the words of the song. Their ear is listening, but their mind is focused on something else.  Every single believer of Jesus Christ can hear His voice. Please do not have any doubt on this. “My sheep will hear My voice”, there is no better verse than this to prove it.  So why some believers can not hear His voice?  It is because they are focused on a different thing when God tries to speak to them specifically about some other thing according to His will. In other words, we may be reading the bible or trying to listen to God what He wants to tell us about a certain issue that we face today. Our mind is fixed on current issue at hand, which may be important to us right now, but God might be addressing an issue or His will which in His sight important for us to do at that time. Because we have contradicting agendas in our mind, we are not able to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit. Since our mind is focused on something, we may only hear music but not the words. You know something God is trying to tell you, but you are not able to establish what is coming from His heart.  Let us focus on what He is trying to communicate with us even though there may be other pressing needs in our life that needs to be discussed with our Lord.
