In the new covenant, ALL those who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ and filled By His Spirit are prophets to themselves. How? When our Lord said ‘My Sheep will hear My voice’, then it is clear that we will hear the voice of the Holy Spirit. In Numbers 11, Moses prophesized this in verse 29: “Then Moses said to him, “Are you zealous for my sake? Oh, that all the LORD’s people were prophets and that the LORD would put His Spirit upon them!”” On the day of Pentecost, the prophecy through Joel fulfilled by the outpouring of His Spirit on all flesh. Moreover, this outpouring did not stop, and it is still happening today on those who are thirsty. If the Spirit of God is in our heart, then we can hear the voice of God. If we can hear His voice and His leading, then we can get counsel from Him when we wait on Him by ourselves. He talks to us, and we talk to Him. This is what a prophet does. If this is the case, then why anyone has to go to a prophet to inquire what is the mind of the Lord on a certain matter. We can talk to another elderly believer who can give us godly counsel that is different. However, going in for an inquiry is an ignorant act and a dangerous act. (Taken from Fruits & Gifts book)
