Gen 22: 6 – 7 So Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering and laid it on Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife, and the two of them went together. 7 But Isaac spoke to Abraham his father and said, “My father!” And he said, “Here I am, my son.” Then he said, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?”

When Abraham was asked to sacrifice his only son whom he waited for many years, he did not have a backup plan for the sacrifice. Isaac asked his father on the way “where is the lamb for a burnt offering”. This indicates Abraham did not have any lamb with him for the sacrifice. He knew precisely what God wants, and what he needs to sacrifice to God to obey His voice. He did not have any backup plan. Likewise, we should not use our worldly wisdom to create a backup plan for ourselves when we leap forward to obey God’s voice in faith. A plan of faith will not have a backup plan. That is the complete obedience to God and trusting in His power and purpose in our life. This is difficult sometimes, but with the power of the Holy Spirit you can defy the odds.
