II Sam 7:12-15

“When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14 I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men. 15 But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you.

When David wanted to build a temple for the Lord, God gave a message to him through Nathan the prophet. In that God said to David that He will not depart His mercy upon the fruit of his body. God promised this because David was a man after His own heart. In Psalms 14 verse 5 he says that “For God is with the generation of the righteous.”  So he knew that if he walked in the commandment of the Lord and execute righteousness, mercy and justice, God will take care of his children. Likewise, if we execute the righteousness and walk in the newness of Life in Christ, then our generation will be before our Lord God.  His mercy and goodness will never depart from our children. This is an invaluable blessing that we can leave behind for our children for them to follow the Lord.  So let us incline our heart to execute righteousness of the LORD according to the righteousness declared by Jesus Christ our Lord in the power of the Holy Spirit.  Not like that of the righteousness of Pharisees, but of love kindness and tender hearted.
