Scripture Portion: Mark 4:35-41

Isa 61:3 “…To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”

When the disciples were in the boat, their mind is muddied with fear because of unbelief. All the miracles they saw before in their lives through the hands of Jesus were all hidden at that time of storm. The lack of sound mind to remember His might hindered them to receive the Peace of God through the storm. Out of the 12 spies who went to spy the land of Canaan, only two had the clarity and the peace of God in their minds and heart. Why? Because of faith in God. Others minds were not clear because they saw the giants and other things before them. They forgot the mighty hand of God that did wonders among the Egyptians and through the Red Sea. When we forget the past miracles or deliverance in our life, then fear always will have upper hand and it in turn disturbs the clarity of our mind. Let us always thank the Lord for what He has done in our life and praise Him. When we escalate our thanksgiving and praise towards Him, the muddying things will subside automatically and His peace will give us the strong mind to do His will.

 Thought of the Day:

All who are weary and heavy in heart sing praises of God and the heaviness will be lifted up and the peace and clarity will settle in your heart. Let His peace reign in our hearts and minds. Amen.

2 Tim 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
