Scripture Passage: John 6:60-71

67.Then Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”

Many were following Jesus apart from the twelve that our Lord chose. Many of them who followed did not continue with them when the going got tough. Not because of lack of material things or lack of wellness or other worldly blessings, but lack of understanding. They could not take the teaching of ‘Flesh and Blood’. They said “This is hard saying; who can understand it?” As we walk in the Spirit and grow in Him, if a situation come by us and makes us think that it is not what I thought to be a true follower of Jesus Christ, then that is when this turning point pops in our life. There are mainly two things are at work here:

First it is a battle between self denial and Christ denial. When we drop Christ denial and picks up self denial then we are following Christ. If it is the other way around then we are not following our Lord any more. “From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more” This verse indicates that they did not continue their discipleship. When we walk with Him, many things comes our way through temptations and trials; and in that, we have the option to choose one of the denials. From browsing the internet to taking important life decisions like choosing the marriage partner, job, friends, fellowship etc.. In all these, the world will place before us an alternative version of choice which leads to Christ Denial. In these decision points many thinks that it is hard to follow Christ because they are unable to deny their self and be with Christ. They are trying to hit a middle ground where they do not want to deny their self or deny Christ. That middle ground is neither hot nor cold place and then they are struck there without any spiritual growth.

Thought of the Day:

When you are facing life changing events in your life, what do you do?

When you are sitting before the TV or computer, what do you do?

When the pull of this world and its desire is so heavy on yourself, how do you react to it?

This is where you will hear the voice of the Holy Spirit in you before even you take the decision. It is a voice that resonates in your heart that longs for the fellowship. It is a voice that warns you that the desire of your heart will lead to Christ denial. This is what He speaks in you ‘do you also want to go away?’ What will be your answer?
