But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” – Revelation 21:8

Am I seeking the approval of men?

Am I not preaching God’s judgment?

Am I running away from trials?

Am I choosing the temporary comfort than the eternal peace?

Am I afraid that something will happen to my family members if I do the right thing?

Am I afraid of losing?

Am I afraid of exposing works of darkness?

Am I afraid of conflict?

These are some of the questions that arise when we think about cowardice in His work. Fear is the number one instrument in devil’s hand to develop cowardice in our heart. A moment of fear is natural but continually living in fear develops cowardice and ultimately drives us to be like the man in the parable with one talent who hid his talent because of the fear of his Master (Mat 25:25). Many times I was afraid to write a message about God’s punishment because I thought it may offend somebody. I wanted to share God’s love and by that people will be comforted. But I should have realized that the judgment of God is also part of His character and because of His love He punishes or disciplines us. God’s judgment needs to be conveyed; but if I am not conveying the message, then I am a coward in God’s eyes. As a preacher or any kind of minister, we should not be afraid to disclose the whole counsel of God which includes judgment of Christ. I see fear in my own life and the people who are surrounded by me. Where there is fear there is no faith or little faith. We cannot expect God’s power to move in our midst if we are coward and not able to trust in the power of the Almighty God. We should not give room to the devil through fear; because of fear, he will hinder the ministry that is given to us by Christ Jesus and make us cowards who cannot fight the good fight.  But what God wants us to do is to be filled by Holy Spirit who gives us the power to be bold (Micah 3:8) and be a part of His army and finally receive the inheritance from God in His kingdom.

Rise up and Shake the dust of fear from you; be cleansed in the Holy River of Life and clothed by God’s glory. God will give you a new filling of the Holy Spirit to fight a good fight. Be bold. All praise and glory to our God through Jesus Christ His Son and our Redeemer. Amen.

Micah 3:8

But as for me, I am filled with power,
with the Spirit of the Lord,
    and with justice and might,
to declare to Jacob his transgression,
    to Israel his sin.
