Matthew 15: 21-28
Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!”
26 But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.”
27 And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”
28 Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
Here we see that our Lord pushes a woman to the level where no one wants to be in that position. Today many are in this position because of social neglects or spiritual neglect. In the church many are pushed to this level because some think that they are more righteous than others. Thinking they have more legal rights than others, to sit at the table with the Lord. They treat fellow believers like how the Pharisee treated the tax collector because those believers are struggling with weakness of flesh or struggling financially or struggling spiritually. When a person pushed to that level of unwanted position or neglect that is when he or she realize that they are in the position of a dog under the master’s table. This is a position which is very low and no one wants to be in that position because they always look to fill their needs from other’s fullness.
Acknowledge your position
The woman said, “Yes, Lord,…
When the Lord pushed that woman to that lowest position she acknowledged it. Likewise if we look at the life of King David, he was also pushed to that level; even to the level that he has to act like a mentally ill person. We can see this pattern in many saints life; Joseph is another example.
If anyone who is reading this feels that you were neglected or pushed to that level of financial dependency or depressed by the things that is going around you and you are in a bondage, then acknowledge your position to the Lord. Sometimes you landed there by your sin or wrong decisions. But sometimes the Lord Himself will push you to that level to test your faith.
Do not despise the meek providence
The woman said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” – Matthew 15:27
That is the statement of faith that our Lord expects from us. Do not despise the providence that is coming from the Lord even though it is falling from the table of the children of God. Elijah did not despise the providence that was given to him by the ravens. If the providence comes from other believers who despise you, receive it with thanks. If the deliverance comes from other believers, receive it with humbleness. This attitude of receiving God’s splattered love will determine your level of faith. When you were able to thank the Lord for the providence, that is His love that fell from the masters table, you would understand the depth of the love of Christ. When our Lord lifts you up to seat you in the table, you would be in a position to see and understand other believer’s situation well and you would show the same love that was shown to you.
See the result
Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
The result is glorious. The woman’s daughter was healed that same hour. For king David, God lifted him and enable him to sit in the throne as a king. Ps 23 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. – Psalm 23:5-6. God set King David above all his enemies and delivered from them and he received the goodness of the Lord.
So what is our take on this? Are we going to grumble and self-pity ourselves because we are in this position and despised by everybody or we will accept with joy and eagerness God’s providence even though it is not glorious. If we do the later then we would be blessed. He will lift our horn in the midst of people who despised you and above all you would be given the ministry of God’s kingdom to serve His children. Your faith will be increased and established in the Lord Jesus and He will be very pleased.
